Caring for someone we love is something we would willingly do. But there’s no denying it can be hard work, which is why extra help can make a big difference.
Alice Eferururhobo certainly appreciates the reliability and professionalism of the support workers from Eleanor Home Care’s Lewisham branch who assist her in caring for her husband, Stephen, on a daily basis.
Mr Eferururhobo, who had been in poor health for more than a decade, suffered a stroke in 2010 that left him paralysed on one side.
The hospital where he was a patient referred the Eferururhobos to Eleanor Home Care and they now receive four visits a day, at 10am, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm, during which they provide help including transfers from bed to his wheelchair and back, with personal care and with getting dressed and ready for bed.
Mr Eferururhobo agrees that Eleanor Home Care’s staff treat him in the way he likes to be treated and says he is “happy” with the services they provide while Mrs Eferururhobo describes the support they provide as “excellent”.
She also says Eleanor Home Care compares favourably with the service provided by another company in the past. One particular problem was that a support worker would not always turn up for a shift and Mrs Eferururhobo would have to help out.
She says: “Eleanor Home Care are much better. Their staff are very punctual and polite and although there are a lot of shifts, we see the same people on a regular basis.”
