Eleanor takes the Grand Canal Challenge

Eleanor Hospital Logistics and some of their family members took part in the recent RBHT Grand Canal Challenge [early July], in aid of the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBHT).

The Eleanor team, headed up by Hospital Logistics Director Graham Walsh, all wore numbered t-shirts with the Eleanor logo on the back and they all started in West London before heading out into the gorgeous countryside.

This event has run for a number of years and has raised substantial funds towards supporting the health and welfare of patients by providing state-of-the-art equipment and new facilities, as well as supporting cutting-edge research into heart and lung conditions.

The full distance of the event is 26 miles, but there were also 12 mile and eight-mile routes available.

Graham Walsh, who completed a respectable 12 miles, praised the Eleanor team, saying: ‘We all successfully completed the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital Charity half Marathon in the blistering heat, but a great feeling and for a worthy cause. Well done to all that participated!’

He added: ’I’d also like to thank Eleanor’s CEO Mark Santhi, who has promised to match the total of what’s raised in sponsor money.’

The Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity CEO, Gill Raikes MBE, also praised Eleanor, saying: ‘The Eleanor team were terrific at the Grand Canal Challenge – thank you so much for coming along and supporting us with the water and with taking part.

‘Tony was a fantastic van driver – we could not have done the event without him. And your team were a lot of fun as they came to the finishers festival.

‘It was great having you on board with us – thank you so much again for your support.’

As we went to press a total of £800 had been raised by the Eleanor team. To make an online donation to this worthy cause, please click on this link: https://www.rbhcharity.org/appeal/eleanor-hospital-logistics
