M Power is a leading care home based in south east London caring for residents with learning disabilities and mental health difficulties and other challenging behaviours.
The 11-bedroom home is situated in a large and beautiful Victorian double-fronted house in Catford, South East London, which borders the London boroughs of Lewisham and Bromley. It has a large and well tended back garden which residents are encouraged to enjoy (either by helping out in the garden, or relaxing in the sunshine).
In addition to 11 spacious single bedrooms M-Power has large and comfortable communal facilities, with a spacious basement area. This allows opportunities for residents to have indoor therapeutic and leisure activities.
Service users are supported to do what they want to do, to achieve an independent life, away from family and friends. For example, residents can also use a separate training kitchen to advance their in house skills development as well as participate in garden projects. They also have access to adult education, community groups and evening classes. At the home itself there are weekly music sessions (Thursday afternoons) and a Friday evening social club, where residents can relax and socialise together.
We recently decorated a bedroom and this is a standard we aim to replicate throughout the home. However residents are always encouraged to make the rooms their own space and personalise their own room surroundings.
The home is located close to the centre of Catford, a busy multi-cultural area within easy reach of theatres, shops, cinemas, cafes and parks. There are also easy access transport links to central London and the Kent countryside.
