Idyllically located just a stone’s throw away from the beach, York House and Aldersmore provides personal care and support for up to 18 people with a learning disability or autistic spectrum disorder. People who use the service may also be living with mental health needs, a physical disability or dementia.

The home’s light and airy rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard, providing a welcoming, homely environment. Most of the bedrooms are en suite and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with furniture and other items of their choice Many of them have enjoyed living at this Holland-by-Sea care home for two decades, so it really is a place they are happy to call home.

York House and Aldersmore is fully wheelchair accessible, with lift/wheelchair access to all floors. There are a number of communal rooms where residents can relax or take part in activities. Many of the rooms within the home, like the kitchens and laundry rooms, are used to help develop residents’ practical independent living skills so that their dependency on support workers is reduced over time.

The large and attractive garden is an important part of life at York House and Aldersmore, particularly during the summer months, when residents use it for relaxation, activities and to spend time with their families. The residents have recently added herbs and hanging baskets to brighten up a patio area.

The health and wellbeing of our residents are key priorities. Specialist diets are catered for and residents are supported to attend appointments to the GP, dentist or chiropodist. York House and Aldersmore also has its own wheelchair-accessible minibus, which enables residents to reach destinations not easily accessed by public transport and for day trips and outings.

This Essex home has easy access to public transport and is only ten minutes from the local railway station, withgood road links to destinations including nearby Clacton-on-Sea and London. Holland-on-Sea itself is a seaside community with facilities including local shops, cafes, pubs and other social activities.
