Located just a stone’s throw away from the beach, York House has space for several residents. Many of our existing residents have lived here for almost two decades, so we know it really is a welcoming and homely environment. Recently refurbished, most of the bedrooms are en-suite. Residents are always encouraged to make the rooms their own and personalise their private space.
York House is fully wheelchair accessible, with life/wheelchair access to all floors. The comfortable communal areas and facilities are well maintained, whilst many of the rooms, like the kitchens and laundry rooms, are used to help develop the residents practical independent living skills. The specialist support team are on hand 24 hours a day. They ensure individual diets are catered for and residents are supported to attend appointments to the GP, dentist or chiropodist.
The large garden, which includes a small fish pond and hamster and chicken enclosures, is adored by the residents. Particularly during the summer months, residents use the garden for relaxation, activities and to spend time with their families. The residents have also added herbs and hanging baskets to brighten up the patio area.
York House has easy access to public transport and is only ten minutes from the local railway station. It has good road links to destinations including nearby Clacton-on-Sea and London too. It also has its own wheelchair-accessible minibus, both to enable residents to access destinations to which public transport is not easily available and for day trips or outings.
Holland-on-Sea offers residents the benefits of attractive beaches and other traditional seaside attractions, a range of shops, places of worship, eating places, pubs and other social activities. The wide range of leisure activities and scenery of Clacton-on-Sea are also just a short distance away. There is simply so much to see and do in close proximity of York House, which is why holidays and respite breaks are also available here.
